when passion meets worship

ARTIST PROFILE

Tim Breaux is a renowned, award winning Plein Air painter located in the Ozarks. Plein Air is French for “outside”, known for its rapid, "broken" brushstrokes (known as alla prima) to finish the work before the light shifts.

In discussion with Tim via phone call, his background in the science of Pharmacology as well as the creative spontaneous allure of light made his path as an artist a unique one.

From his story we wanted to capture his passion, highlighting the specific techniques he uses for his painting. Using multiple days both indoors and outdoors, we achieved a profile film that captured his story in under 2 minutes.

Approach

Preproduction involved phone interviews, storyboarding, and location scouting for both outside and inside locations. We used reference images of creative shots and made a pre-visualization edit that presented Tim an idea of what we were trying to achieve. Once the pre-edit was approved, we prepared crew and we moved into production.

One of many lighting diagrams we planned

An art studio with paintings, an easel, and a large television on the left. The room has framed artworks on the wall, a patterned rug, and various art supplies and furniture.
Indoor scene with framed artwork on shelves and walls, a small wooden easel with a painting, a black stove, a round rug, and a door with a window. An overlay shows the sun's position and path of a sun seeker app on January 7, 2026.

Scout images

A professional video camera mounted on a tripod in a cozy indoor setting with a person blurred in the background. The scene suggests a filming setup, possibly for an interview or video production.

Outdoor scene was planned in early morning light, and Tim showed us his usual spots for painting. A small crew was used for the indoor scene to make camera work, lighting, and logistics run smoothly. All members of crew were handed a production packet, that had detailed diagrams, shotlists, and information needed to achieve an efficient shoot. All preproduction was meticulously prepared for weeks prior to shoot.

Results

Engagement before/after

The film was launched to promote an upcoming art expo Tim was attending. Compared to his initial promotional post for the event, the documentary piece significantly increased engagement within the first 24 hours.

Launch Day 1 Facebook metrics:

  • 122% increase in likes and reactions

  • 700% increase in comments

The film more than doubled overall engagement and generated 8x more conversation than the standard promotional post. The increase in comments and shares indicate deeper audience resonance. The piece positioned Tim’s expo presence around story and conviction rather than simple announcement. This elevated perceived value and strengthened audience connection even before the event began.
